How Accessible?

In this day and age should cruise lines cater more for disabled passengers?  Most ships only ever have a handful of cabins that are accessible for disabled passengers.  This doesn't give the passenger much choice of which grade of cabin to opt for.  Most wheelchair users can't just go into a standard cabin as the doors aren't wide enough for the wheelchair.  Not every wheelchair user can get out of their chair to get into the cabin.

Breathtaking views of GEIRANGER

One of my favourite areas in Norway is Geiranger. As we entered through Geiranger Fjord into Gerianger there was a very eerie feeling about it. The water is so still and not a sound to be heard anywhere around. We passed the seven sisters waterfall which is definately worth a view. The ship anchors in the middle of Geiranger so you have to tender ashore. This is always very organised whichever cruise line you travel with. In Geiranger itself there wasn't that much to do, few shops and few cafes and that is about it. It was so nice just to sit and take in the view.

Are you having a Laugh!

Over the years I have heard some silly cruise questions going around that people have actually said before and while taking their cruise.  Here are some of them .............

What time is it? It's dinner time!

Dining onboard ships is changing all the time. Traditionally dining onboard the ships for the evening meal is set dining. Either 6.30pm 1st sitting or 8.30pm 2nd sitting. This can vary slightly ship to ship though. A lot of people have said to me, well 1st sittng is too early when we have been out all day and 2nd sitting is far too late to then catch a show after. Is this why cruise lines have gone into freedom dining I wonder?

Over the years I have experienced both times of the set dining and depending on where I am cruising and who I am cruising with both seating's have been fine for me.

PORT or STARBOARD which is best?

One of the questions I always seem to get asked is which is the best side of the ship to be on for my cruise? Port or Starboard? Left or right?
Everyone's always going to have their own views on this but here are mine.......

'Sit Down Your Rockin The Boat'

For me the best part of cruising is all the entertainment. I love just sitting watching people perform, whether it is a soloist singing to a big Broadway style musical with song and dance. The ships offer such great shows. I think my fave is Royal Caribbean as you have the ice shows as well as the big stage shows.

HAIRSPRAY musical on Oasis of the Seas - is it "set" to be a hit?

Is the Hairspray Musical really meant to be onboard Oasis of the seas? What a great musical to put on such a huge ship.
I have heard that the Musical Hairspray is set to join the largest ship in the world.
The very funny musical is set to join the new Oasis of the Seas when she launches later this month.

Money Money Money!

What I get asked quite a lot when it comes to cruising is what Currency do I need? How do I get my onboard spend? Do I need lots of different currencies for my destinations?
Here are some of the answers to your questions

SPECIALITY DINING - Is it worth the extra charge?

Is speciality dining onboard a ship really worth it I ask myself?  I have been on quite a few cruises and always try out the speciality dining.  When I was onboard the Oceana earlier this year we ate in the Marco Pierre Restaurant one evening.  We were charged a service charge of only about £7 for the privilege of eating here, so price wise this wasn't that bad.  I think this alters depending on what you have off the menu.  The setting of the restaurant was really nice and i can say I did really enjoy my food.  The steak was to die for and the chips were served in what looked like their own little fryer which I thought was good. I did have a really yummy chocolate mousse for dessert.

MSC don't believe all you see on reviews

I decided to take a cruise for my last holiday this year.  We decided on the MSC Poesia as this offered an itinerary of all new places to me. We booked flights independently and spent one night in Venice before boarding the ship. It was my first experience with MSC Cruises so was unsure what to expect.  My first impression of the ship was very good.  Very clean and had really nice good sized balcony cabin.  The public areas on the ship were all very different to each other. I liked the Zebra bar the best, mind you it did make your eyes go funny after so long. We never seemed to struggle to get a sun lounger up on deck and could always manage to get a seat in the theatre and bars.  I wasn't overly keen on the entertainment with MSC and did struggle a bit with the amount of different languages spoken on board but overall had a good cruise.
I never had a problem with food being cold like you see on reviews.

Beautiful BERGEN - why a 'MUST SEE' in Norway

I have been to Bergen twice before and would love to go back again and again. It is such a great place to travel to. Bergen is one of Norway's largest cities which makes it so different to the little villages in the fjords I visited. There are two areas of Bergen the new town and the old town. I only touched on the new town while I was there as this is mainly shops, cafes and pubs. I can shop any day of the week at home so this didn't appeal to me while I was there.
